Have you had any avocado today yet? Well, you should! Avocados are really special because of the great health benefits they provide. Not everyone likes the feel of the texture, or the taste straight out of the shell of avocado, but they are one of the best fruits that you can eat for all round general goodness and health, and are on the list of Super Fruits!
Avocados are high in monosaturated fats (the healthy fats). The creamy rich avocado is considered one of the world’s healthiest fruits due to the nutrient contents that include potassium, dietary fiber, vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium and many others you can see below.
1. Healthy Heart Function
Packed in avocados are monounsaturated fats which are healthy fats. When eaten in moderation, monounsaturated fats can reduce bad cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, and improve overall blood lipid levels.
Avocados also contain a rich variety of heart nutrients including vitamin E for preventing cholesterol oxidation; folate for reducing dangerous homocysteine levels in the blood; potassium for regulating blood pressure; phytosterols for reducing cholesterol absorption.
Also, avocados are very high in potassium – a 100 gram (3.5 ounce) serving contains 14% of the RDA, compared to 10% in bananas. Several studies reveal that a high potassium diet is linked to reduced blood pressure, a major risk factor for heart attacks and strokes.
2. Relieve Symptoms of Arthritis
Polyhydroxylated Fatty Alcohols (PFAs) is an anti-inflammatory agent that helps with reducing inflammation which leads to arthritis. Along with PFAs, avocados contain antioxidants like vitamin E, vitamin C and a variety of carotenoids that fight arthritis inflammation.
